Pioneer Forest is a large, privately-owned oak-hickory forest located in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks. This 160,000-acre commercial forest has demonstrated over the last 50 years that silviculture can simultaneously be an economic, biological, and recreational success. The Washington Forest Law Center was founded in 1996. Landscape Analysis Lab, University of the South. An interdisciplinary group of faculty members collaborating to study land use changes on the Southern Cumberland Plateau. The Lab uses GIS technology to promote its twin goals of environmental education and conservation science. An objective is to monitor the pulse of the Plateau and make findings available to the public through this website.
