A model forestry policy provides a critical focal point for all
groups to work collaboratively on forestry issues.
MFPP’s
mission is to research, develop, and disseminate to as broad an
audience as possible the information and proven models
for developing such policy.
By networking local, state, regional,
and national groups with market oriented campaigns, landowner
and land acquisition groups
(and moving to add faith-based organizations, recreational industry
organizations, and local governmental organizations), MFPP has
assembled and rallied a powerful network that can concentrate
on changing policy at the grassroots local and state levels in
the
absence of leadership at the national level on forestry and other
environmental issues.
To accomplish this, MFPP links activists
with national experts on state forestry law and policy.
With
our Advisory and Steering Committee of experts as the core, this
effort can help institute specific local and state action
and broad, region-wide change.
Together we are developing policy
that will protect privately owned forested land, which comprises
the vast majority of forests
in
the Southeastern states. |
